The summer season of 2004 was warm and dry until late August.  The top photo was taken about September 20 in 2003, and makes an interesting comparison with almost the same photo taken on September 8, 2004.
	This photo in 2004 has more bare glacier showing through, even though there was some snow in late August of this season.  More rock is showing through the glacier, but this difference may be entirely due to seasonal snowfall rather than a significant change in the amount of glacier.
